English Research Forum
Fostering Research Excellence Since 2018
The English Research Forum of the Department of English, Mar Thoma College for Women, Perumbavoor, was launched in 2018 to cultivate a vibrant culture of academic research, scholarly dialogue and critical inquiry among students and faculty.
The Forum functions as a platform for research paper presentations, publications, discussions and mentorship, nurturing young scholars and enabling learners to engage meaningfully with literature, language, culture and interdisciplinary research.

The English Research Forum actively organises invited lectures, webinars, workshops and scholarly interactions that introduce students to emerging areas of literary and cultural research while encouraging interdisciplinary thinking and academic inquiry.
Banalata Sen and the Poetics of Translation
An invited online lecture titled “Banalata Sen and the Poetics of Translation: Reading Sujit Mukherjee’s Translation as Discovery” was organised on 17 September 2025.
Dr. Oindri Roy, Assistant Professor, Aliah University, Kolkata, served as the resource person. The session explored the politics and poetics of translation while examining the complexities of multiple translations and interpretative discovery.
Workshop on Research Methodology
As part of the Alumni Invited Lecture Series, a workshop on Research Methodology was conducted on 24 February 2026. The session introduced students to research design, topic selection, academic writing, documentation practices and scholarly inquiry, helping learners build a strong foundation in academic research.
Interdisciplinary Research Exposure
The Forum regularly introduces students to emerging areas of literary and cultural studies including Translation Studies, Health Humanities, Disability Studies, Gender Studies and interdisciplinary approaches to literature and culture.
