Lahari Vimukthi Club

The Lahari Vimukthi Club in the college is constituted with the primary objective of promoting a drug free and healthy lifestyle among students. A vigilant committee helps raise awareness about the ill-effects of drug abuse through regular conduct of programmes which include expert talks, competitions, awareness drives etc.  The activities of the Club include educating the students about the harmful effects of drugs, alcohol and other narcotic substances and reporting of any noticed used of drugs by the students to the members of the Club. The Club works in close contact with the Excise and Police departments, who also support the institution’s activities against drug abuse.

 

 

Drug awareness seminar conducted in association with Perumbavoor Police Department on 15th September 2022. SI Greeshma Chandran, ASI Reji Jose, and Civil Police Officer Subair M.P addressed the students.

 

 

 

 

Awareness rally against drug abuse organised by Lahari Vimukthi Club, NSS and NCC on 10 October 2022. Advocate Eldhose Kunnappilly, MLA, Perumbavoor, flagged off the rally.

 

 

 

Training session conducted on 13th October 2022 on the topic ‘Preparing young volunteers for activities against drugs’ inaugurated by Mr. Mahesh Kumar M, Excise Inspector Perumbavoor. The resource person was Dr. K.R Harish Babu, CMO, GHD, Thrikkakkara.

Drug awareness campaign organised in Perumbavoor by Lahari Vimukthi Club and NCC in association with the Labour Department, Excise Department and Rajagiri Outreach Project for the migrant labourers in the locality on 21st October 2022. The NCC cadets presented a street play and flashmob in the workplaces and camps of the labourers.

Participation in Suchithva Bodhana Yajnam: The Lahari Vimukthi club joined hands with the NSS unit of the college and participated in the Padayathra held as part of Shuchitva Bodhana Yajnjam on 6 January 2019.

Vimukthi Poster Exhibition: A poster exhibition was conducted in the premises of the college from 14 to 19 January 2019 in order to raise awareness against drug abuse and different types of addiction. The posters were designed by the students themselves and received attention from the whole of the college community.

Short Film: A short film titled “Sports Spirit” was prepared by the students and sent to the short film competition held by National Health Mission. The work sends a message against the illegal use of drugs by sports personnel in order to improve their performance and how the practice can harm their health.

Dance against Drugs: Students from our college participated as a team in “Dance against Drugs” competition conducted by District Tourism Promotion Council and Excise Department on 23 August 2019 at Durbar Hall Ground, Ernakulam. The performance was arranged as a dance drama based on the theme drug abuse.
