Principal’s Message

The upliftment of a society, as well as the progress of a nation, happens when its women are empowered through education. Realising this truth years back, Mar Thoma College for Women, Perumbavoor, was established in 1982 by the Mar Thoma Evangelistic Association to enlighten the women in rural and suburban areas of Perumbavoor, keeping the motto of the college, ‘The truth shall make you free’. I bow in reverence and gratitude before the vision and foresight of the pioneers, the founding fathers, and for the leadership and guidance of the present manager, Very Rev Dr. Issac Mar Philoxenos Episcopa. As an institution for women, it has been catering to the mission of education to all female budding aspirants who come seeking wisdom and enlightenment within its portals.

As the journey progresses triumphantly with the new academic laurels achieved, NAAC A+ grade, at present, the college stands at a transition phase in terms of having implemented the FOUR-YEAR UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMME, FYUGP, under the New Education Policy, 2020. The introduction of specialised degree courses emphasising skill development for students in different areas opens doors for local and global employment opportunities. Our new curriculum recognises each student’s unique strengths and aspirations with a personalised learning plan that empowers women graduates with skills and confidence to shape their destinies in this rapidly developing world.

Our college has excelled in delivering value-based education that is in tune with the vision of UGC and consonant with the National Education Policy 2020. We offer students a wide range of practical exposure and internships in association with reputed industrial companies and national institutes. The college has an effective career guidance and placement cell in collaboration with top recruiters from different sectors, such as IT, finance, marketing, education, healthcare, and customer service, offering a chance to explore diverse career opportunities for our students. While addressing our women students’ academic, intellectual and social challenges, we focus on their holistic development to help them excel in all spheres of human activity.
