The Department of Physics

The Department of Physics has been in existence ever since the inception of Science batches in the College. The Department offers various core and complementary courses for the under-graduate programme in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry.

B.Sc Physics (Vocational-Model II Applied Electronics) was started in 2001 with twenty one students. Two students in the first batch got Ist and IIIrd ranks in M. G. University. From then onwards the department has been a platform of high academic excellence in university level exams. In 2021, the Government of Kerala sanctioned the new generation course Integrated MSc Physics (BSc+MSc) in aided stream.

The Department has been fortunate to have a group of eminent teachers ever since its inception. Presently there are four permanent faculties and one guest lecturer working in the department. Inspite of being a graduate department with five teachers and nearly sixty students, we frequently conduct seminars, workshops, outreach programmes, social commitment programmes etc. with the support from UGC, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment and DST, Govt. of India, Energy Conservation Society, Energy Management Centre, Petroleum Conservation Research Association etc. The students are highly much benefitted by these programmes.
